Today, I turn 30.

For some people, that number brings anxiety. For me, it brings gratitude.

Not because I have everything figured out... the truth is I don't. But when I look back at the last few years, I can see how much I've grown, how much I've learned, and how many opportunities I've created simply by being willing to take the next step, even when I wasn't completely ready.

A few years ago, I knew I wanted something different for my life.

I wanted flexibility. I wanted the freedom to travel, to work from different places, and to build a career that aligned with the life I envisioned for myself. I wanted work that would challenge me, allow me to keep learning, and give me the opportunity to create something of my own.

That desire eventually led me to become a Virtual Assistant.

What started as curiosity quickly became a journey of growth, education, connection, and self-discovery.

And while my business is still growing, I can honestly say that I am building something I genuinely love.

Learning to Trust Myself

One of the biggest lessons my twenties taught me is that confidence isn't something you magically wake up with one day.

Confidence is built through action.

It's built by taking chances.

It's built by saying yes to opportunities before you feel completely prepared.

There have been many moments throughout this journey when I questioned myself. Moments when I wondered if I was capable enough, experienced enough, or ready enough.

But I've learned that waiting until you feel fully confident often means waiting forever.

Some of my biggest breakthroughs happened because I decided to move forward despite the uncertainty.

That's exactly what I wrote about in my blog, Stepping Into Rooms I Once Thought Were Too Big for Me.

That experience reminded me that growth often happens when we place ourselves in environments that challenge us.

Not because we're ready.

But because we're willing.

Investing in My Future

One of the gifts I gave myself for my 30th birthday was a VIP ticket to VA Fest, hosted by Breanna Cain.

For some people, a birthday gift might be a vacation, a handbag, or a fancy dinner.

For me, it was an investment in my future.

Over the past year, continuing education has become one of the most valuable investments I've made in both myself and my business.

Every course, coaching call, networking opportunity, and learning experience has helped me become a better Virtual Assistant and a better business owner.

More importantly, it has helped me better serve my clients.

VA Fest is more than just another conference.

It's an opportunity to learn from leaders in the Virtual Assistant industry, gain new insights, and continue growing the skills that support both my clients and my business.

But what I'm looking forward to most is the people.

Through the Virtual Assistant Leadership Academy (Affiliate Link), I've connected with incredible women from all over the country. We've celebrated wins together, supported each other through challenges, and cheered each other on from behind computer screens.

Now, I'll finally have the opportunity to meet many of them in person.

There's something special about turning online friendships into real-life connections, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity.

Lessons I'm Taking Into My Thirties

As I enter this next decade, there are a few lessons I hope I never forget.

1. Document Your Journey

It's easy to focus on how much farther you want to go.

But documenting your journey allows you to see how far you've already come.

Looking back at old journal entries, social media posts, and blog articles reminds me that growth is happening, even when it doesn't always feel like it.

You never know who might need to hear your story.

Share it anyway.

2. Don't Wait for Confidence

Confidence comes and goes.

There are days when I feel capable and certain. There are other days when I question everything, which now I go to therapy even when I am feeling my best because there is always something to decompress and work through.

What I've learned is that confidence isn't required before taking action.

More often than not, confidence is created because of action.

Take the step.

Apply for the opportunity.

Attend the event.

Send the email.

The confidence will catch up.

3. Invest in Yourself

Every investment I've made in my education has paid me back in ways I couldn't have predicted.

Not always financially.

Sometimes through relationships.

Sometimes through opportunities.

Sometimes through lessons I needed to learn.

Investing in yourself is rarely wasted.

4. Build Relationships

Business isn't just about systems, strategies, and productivity.

It's about people.

Many of the opportunities I've received have come from genuine relationships, conversations, referrals, and communities.

Never underestimate the value of surrounding yourself with people who inspire you to grow.

5. Give Yourself Permission to Evolve

The version of me that started this business isn't the same version writing this blog today.

And that's a beautiful thing.

Growth requires change.

You're allowed to change your mind.

You're allowed to dream bigger.

You're allowed to become someone your younger self couldn't yet imagine.

Give yourself permission to evolve.

Looking Ahead

At 30, I don't feel like I've arrived.

I feel like I'm finally learning to trust myself.

The older I get, the more I realize that success isn't about having all the answers. It's about being willing to keep learning, keep growing, and keep showing up.

There is still so much I want to accomplish.

There are places I want to travel.

Skills I want to learn.

People I want to meet.

Dreams I want to bring to life.

But for the first time in a long time, I'm not focused on how far I still have to go.

I'm grateful for how far I've already come.

If my twenties taught me anything, it's that growth often begins the moment you're willing to say yes before you feel ready.

So here's to turning 30.

To continuing to learn.

To continuing to grow.

To building a business I genuinely love.

And to stepping into even bigger rooms.
